A thank you from Bernie Henderson – Chairman (2012-2023)

I first envisaged this history project in 2016. At that time, the future centenary in 2021 appeared quite far away. Much has happened since then, but I was delighted to see it has finally come to fruition and we hope it will grow into the future. I would like to thank many people and organisations who have helped along the way and I’ve listed some of them below.  Without them this project would not have been successful.

We are indebted to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for their support throughout this project. Unfortunately, the pandemic made it more challenging but with their help we were able to extend the time taken and pull over 2000 resources together successfully.

Port Talbot Library held many of these valuable records and they couldn’t have been more helpful in providing access. Particular thanks go to Leah Hayes but also to all her colleagues.

Craig Williams for his time and technical skills in helping us create a solution to the overwhelming wealth of resources we had collected.

James Lowery for leading the team of editors who meticulously reviewed and produced all the articles, ensuring the highest quality. A special thank you to Evan Smith for his valuable contributions.

Gareth Evans, at HypeBound, for all his technical and design skills as well as his guidance.

Our late secretary, David Oak, who encouraged me when I first suggested the project in 2016. A marvellous servant of the club, he used his extensive knowledge of local athletics to guide the original plan.

Finally, John Davies (our President) for tirelessly gathering and unearthing new resources, but most of all for dedicating so much time to creating a book of the club’s history. In his book, he also credits many individuals who provided resources, memories and support. Those names, in alphabetic order, are copied below:
Karl Angel, Colin Anthony, Gareth Ayres, Kevin Corcoran, Alan & Brenda Currie, Gareth Davies, Steve Davies, Frances Gill, Darren Grace, Leah Hayes, Bernie Henderson, Tony Holling, Chris John, Vince Lewis, Geraint Morgan, Mandy Morris, Derek Moss, Gaynor Oak, Jim O’Brien, Damien Owen, Alan Perkins, Andrew & John Phillips, Clare Phillips, Mario Rabaiotti, Paul Rees, Dillwyn & Christine Robbins, Ian Swanson, Darren Vaughan, Charles Walsh, Dave Waters and Alex Williams.
