Port Talbot Carry All Before Them at Swansea
Port Talbot YMCA Harriers won the Llewellyn Shield at the inter-town sports held in Swansea, published on 27th September 1922.
In the inter-town sports, held at St. Helen’s ground, Swansea, on Saturday, Port Talbot carried all before them, and returned with the shield which they won by a large margin of points.
An Important Migration
D. Richards joins Newport Harriers to represent them for championship races, however would still represent Port Talbot YMCA Harriers for non-championship events. Published in the South Wales Echo on 5th October 1922.
Team building is already being indulged in, and Newport have considerably strengthened their senior side by electing D. Richards, Port Talbot, to membership.
While most people who have the good of the sport at heart depreciate the gathering together in any one club of the majority of the best men in the district, it must be admitted that Richards’ case is an exceptional one.
By virtue of his having secured International honours he becomes ineligible to compete in any races other than the Welsh Senior and Midland Senior and Junior. His old club, Port Talbot Y.M.C.A., with which he will still run in other than Championship events, will probably concentrate on capturing the lesser before the greater honours, and may be expected to make a bid for the Novice event.
